CSXT 8577 leads the AINAR thru town. It has a Leslie S5T on it and it is absolutely spectacular. On the heels of the AINAR is a YPB 72. As this train passes, you can see the headlight of the YPB72. Close to the end of the train is a old DTI 86 ft autoparts boxcar. The horn sounded good in the distance as it headed out of town.
A ex CR C40-8W leds 119 cars thru downtown Pine Bluff, AR, The train is QBTNL. It is equipped with a very nice S3L. This train was about 40 minutes behind the BNSF local with the EMDX engine in the previous video. A ex ADN bulkhead flat brings up the rear of this train. Danny, you should like it!
A single EMDX GP38-2 leads a short BNSF local from Pine Bluff to North Little ROck and on to Memphis. The GP38-2 was equipped with one of the best S3L's i've heard in a long time. Skies were cloudy and it was sort of foggy on this day.
SP 8013 leads a variety of engines on the AASEW. He is following a train and stops at the bbq stand near the Main St. crossing. Was nice to see the old warrior on the point and the variety of power this train offered
The CNW 6930, the last CNW SD40-2 to survive a patch job leads the MPBDA into Fordyce, AR for a meet. The nose bell is clanging and he's in run 8. It was a great show. The train was 10,000 tons and 6850 feet.
A BNSF GP28M, BNSF GP15-1 & a EMDX GP38-2 lead a fairly good sized military train thru the heart of downtown Pine Bluff, AR. I almost didnt make it as I had to turn around and fight traffic and red lights to get ahead of this train.
SP 8192 leads the ZYCLD into Fordyce. SP 8192 was the last SP dash 9 that made it without being patched for a while. I think in 2003 it fell victim to the patch.
Two SD9043MAC's are in notch 8 trying to keep this heavy grain train up to speed. Trains have to punch it coming thru town because there is a 1% hill west of town. Underpowered trains stall on this hill. This train got down to 10 mph climbing the hill.
BN 9244 leads a QDYMEJ trackage rights train thru Fordyce, AR. Coming into Fordyce it navigates a s-curve and crosses the F&P. This was my favorite railfan spot. Engineer Lafon Johnson steps across to give me a wave. I met him in 1997. The units sound good in notch 8. They were pulling 105 cars.
This is the first part of the SSW 819 being moved from the city park in Pine Bluff, AR to the old Cotton Belt shops to be restored. All parts of this series were shot by Dusty Rhodes.
The BNSF local leaves Pine Bluff, AR headed towards North Little Rock, AR. The unit is a pure BN SD40-2 and it has strobe lights for ditchlights. I really didnt like them that much. It also has a very loud RS3K.
Two MP GP38-2's and a MP B23-7 are in charge of a freight train headed to Van Buren, AR. The scene is from 1982. This is the end that I am a conductor on. The station and spur track is still there.
A pure SP lash up holds its train as it glides downhill into Thornton, AR in the siding. The GP60 is the only engine working as the SP SD40E shut down pulling the hill.
The SP 8293 leads a super hot ZDUMQ in the snow at Fordyce, AR. This train consisted mostly of UPS trailers. Was nice to see an old warrior leading the newer generation of power.
The UP 3508 leads two Missouri Pacific units into the pass to meet the UP 8444. It has a "hoarse" RS3L. But it still sings quite nicely. The MP SD40-2's are a nice site also. The video is not the best because this was made from a old VHS tape.
